I remember watching Bill Hicks performing one of his famous routines where he talks about life being ‘just a ride’ when I was roughly sixteen years old and feeling what he said resonate deeply inside of me. At the time I didn’t give much active thought to spiritual matters as I had a mother who was a Sai Baba devotee and I was busy rebelling against everything that she represented, as par for the course of being a teenager (this was also the year that I took up smoking cigarettes as she had given up and therefore it seemed like the best thing to do to prove my independence from her influence)
Today, 26 years later I look back on that small epiphany I experienced back then and have come full circle in many ways. From the rebellion of my younger years, to experiencing life on my own terms through thick and thin, enjoying the ride all of the way, and now to where I am, here looking at a journal with some profound truths written in it that were delivered to me this morning by my team of guides and angels, who I now know without a shadow of a doubt are all around me all of the time (something I dismissed as being unimportant and irrelevant during that period of my youth when I was so determined to be independent - didn’t want anyone telling me what to do or how to live, giving me advice, anything – I was as stubborn as a mule).
I look back on all of the choices that I’ve made and I know that they have all led me here and that here is perfect and to be appreciated as what it is, a moment along this lifetime of many moments. I see how I have been supported always, every step along the way and I appreciate how far I have come from those days of rejection of the help that was there for me, to acceptance of and active engagement with it on a daily basis, on an hourly basis, on a minute by minute basis. Many of the choices that I made when I was younger came from a place of fear but they never led to any serious long term harm. The message in my journal, channelled and written in my favourite purple pen sums it up:
‘I am a being of love, light, infinite supply, infinite, abundance and infinite wisdom
I am here to fulfil my mission with joy, gratitude, faith, trust, love, peace, abundance of all kinds including prosperity, and harmony.
I am here to be a powerful creator and co-creator.
I am here to be a conduit for Spirit
I am here to live joyfully and gratefully, to feel EVERYTHING and to know that all things pass and my well-being and abundance are always constant and assured regardless of temporary outer appearances, and to know that all is well, always.
This is why I am here.
All actions that come from a place of this are blessed.
All actions that come from a place of fear are lessons and nothing more.
By experiencing all of this I become one with my true nature. There is nothing truly bad that can happen – only lessons when I have not looked at my why.
From now on I only need ask – is this coming from a place of love, or fear?
This is enough. For each action. For each word spoken to another. For each word spoken to myself. Complete and total honesty is the basis for total responsibility and greater understanding.’
There truly are only two choices – love or fear. Being a powerful creator requires being responsible and understanding why you are doing the things, saying the things, thinking the things you are.
Do you come from love, or do you come from fear? Neither is bad, it just shows you which part of yourself is talking – the higher self or the ego. Once you have this awareness making choices becomes easier. When the ego speaks it is an opportunity to take a higher perspective and switch it around. Or to not, and to learn the lesson that will be shown to you (it is when we don’t learn the lesson and continually make our choices from that same ‘small self’ that we repeat the same patterns over and over – but still eventually we learn, even if it takes lifetimes)
From now on I will always endeavour to look at my ‘why?’ as this is what enables me to always make better choices. Knowledge truly is power and when we are so clued in to our reasons behind things we can affect great change in both our own lives and the lives of others around us. For coming from love is coming from a place of service, both service of your own higher nature, and service of all those around you. This does not mean self-sacrifice (again, the examination of your why will tell you if you are looking for validation and to prove your worth in the eyes of others, which isn’t from love but from fear that you are not enough).
